Social media influencer Chinnu Pappu, 24, was found dead at her rented home in Adoor, Kasaragod district, Kerala on Monday, February 9. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the circumstances, which they currently consider to be a suspected suicide.
Chinnu Pappu, whose real name was Reshma, had built a significant presence online, particularly on Instagram, where she had more than two lakh followers. Her content mainly celebrated aspects of rural life, local cuisine, and places, resonating strongly with her audience.
According to police and preliminary reports, neighbours discovered her hanging inside her rented quarters around midday and immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital. Medical staff later declared her brought dead. Authorities have said that while the exact cause of death is yet to be officially established, an initial assessment suggests personal and family issues may have contributed to her taking her own life.
Investigators have registered a formal case, and forensic teams are collecting evidence from the scene. Officers are examining her mobile phone and recording statements from family members and close associates to understand the full context of what happened. A post-mortem examination has been ordered, and the body will be released to her relatives once all necessary procedures are complete.
